People who like Fallout New Vegas have good taste in games. People who like Fallout 3 like it because it was their first Fallout game or because they don't get Fallout.
They HATE HATE HATE that it has been over ten years and everyone still raves about New Vegas like it was released yesterday. I think its telling that the "Cult of Fallout New Vegas" gets on the nerves of the Bethesdrones to this day. If it was remade in either an iso-tb engine, or as it is but in a more modern engine without the FO3 trappings, it would destroy absolutely everything. FO1 is inferior in gameplay to both but its VERY thematically and atmospherically strong. But I can see why some people think FNV is superior to FO2 - even if most of these people never played FO2. I personally rank FNV as the second best Fallout, with FO2 being my favorite. Nobody cares about Disk Space circa 2021.
Its pretty telling that the only reason we didn't get Ulysses as companion is the fact all his dialogue would't fit on the disk space. To be fair, its also worth noting that Obsidian had 18 months to finish the game, and FNV not only had to contend with piece of shit Gamebryo, but also with the mechanical limits of the current gen of consoles, which was already at its end. There's a reason some people here call it Fallout 3: New Vegas. But I agree on the "best Fallout game trapped in the worst Fallout game" sentiment. We only saw a glimpse of post-war Oregon in FO2.Ĭlick to expand.I think FNV is fantastic. There's plenty of United States left to explore. If the Legion loses and Caesar dies, the Legion is doomed to splinter. If the Legion wins, they get their new capital and then will go on to conquer and unify West and East - especially if Caesar lives.
Play out the NCR's civilizational cycle.Īs for the Legion: The game repeatedly tells you that New Vegas will make or break the Legion. If there's to be a collapse, I would rather see a "natural" and realistic collapse. Hell, there's plenty of California in 1 and 2 we barely get to see - the Gold Country region, the area around Sacramento and the Central Coast. Want to tell a tale about California? Make a damn prequel. Which I don't get - the story of California has been told, the United States is huge. I love MCA, but since the Van Buren days he has this bizarre boner for soft-rebooting the West Coast with another round of nukes.
